The editorial team did not conduct its own experiment on appearing in Alice AI answers, has no commercial relationship with the services mentioned, and does not use affiliate links. No one can guarantee inclusion in AI-generated answers — including us.
Short answer. To appear in Alice AI answers, a site first needs to rank highly in Yandex Search for the relevant query: according to the Webmaster help article, Alice AI builds its answer using the most relevant, informative, and high-quality pages, which usually rank near the top. There is no separate “entry point” into AI answers. Three things matter: pages that directly and fully answer the customer’s question, trust signals for the company and author based on the EPOS principles, and regular measurement of Share of Voice in the “Site Visibility in Alice AI” report.
Below is what Yandex actually says, which pages businesses should create, how to measure results, and which mistakes waste effort.

What GEO optimization is and Alice AI answers
GEO optimization (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of making sure search engine and assistant AI-generated answers rely on pages from your site and cite them as a source. In Yandex, the main format right now is Alice AI answers in Search.
According to Yandex Webmaster help, Alice AI answers appear in search results, in entity answers, and on a separate Search tab, and they “most often mention the site pages Alice AI relied on when preparing the answer.” In the Yandex Webmaster Blog it was announced that Alice technologies have been integrated into Search and that Alice “will inherit and expand the capabilities of Neuro.” So the queries “how to get into Yandex Neuro” and “how to appear in Alice answers” are essentially the same today.
Timeline from the Yandex EPOS help article: 2023 — quick answers based on YandexGPT, 2025 — Alice AI answers. According to the quick answers help article, quick answers powered by YandexGPT are generated only for Russia: the model finds several relevant sources in real time, summarizes the information from them, and chooses the most useful answer.
How is GEO different from SEO? Yandex answers this directly: because generative answers in Search and Alice AI answers in chat are built on top of search results, “no fundamentally new requirements arise.” GEO is not a replacement for SEO, but the next layer: the same work on rankings and page quality, plus attention to how easily AI can extract a ready-made answer from the page.
How Alice AI chooses sources
From the official help article “Site Visibility in Alice AI” come four practical conclusions.
- No rankings, no mentions. Alice AI relies on pages that rank highly for the main query and related topics. Webmaster statistics are collected only for queries where the site is already ranking high enough.
- You need text that can be referenced. Among the reasons for missing data, Yandex cites cases where there is too little text content on the pages to build an answer.
- The answer is assembled from scratch every time. Alice AI does not use ready-made templates and builds each answer based on the current search results, so the list of sources for the same query changes over time.
- The Webmaster report does not control inclusion. Asked whether it can be used to manage appearance in answers, the help article says “No”: the tool only shows where the site is already mentioned and where there is potential.
So the main principle is: in Yandex, GEO starts with ordinary Search visibility, not with “secret” AI tricks. Anything that promises Alice AI inclusion without ranking in the results goes against how Yandex itself describes the system.
EPOS: which page aspects Yandex evaluates
In the help article “Which aspects affect Search rankings and inclusion in Alice AI answers” Yandex groups quality aspects under the EPOS acronym and separately explains relevance.
| Aspect | How Yandex describes it | What it means for a business site |
|---|---|---|
| Relevance | How well the page matches the user’s real task, not just a formal query match | A service page answers a specific customer question instead of listing everything |
| Expertise | Reputation, verified expertise and author experience, site specialization; especially important where the cost of an error is high | List authors and their specialization, business details, address, contact information, portfolio, reviews |
| Usefulness | The page practically helps solve the task: understand, choose, order | A clear next step, working forms, usability on all devices |
| Originality | Text uniqueness alone does not guarantee value; rewritten or AI-generated text without new value is ineffective | Original experience, data, examples, and expert commentary that competitors do not have |
| Substance | High density of meaning and full coverage of the topic without fluff | Solution options, pros and cons, selection factors — concise and to the point |
It is also worth quoting Yandex’s position on using AI in content production: it “can be an excellent assistant for the author, but should not replace them, depriving the text of new meaning, authorial style, and expertise.” For GEO, this is a direct signal: mass-generation of rewrites of other people’s articles does not produce long-term results.
Which queries and pages businesses should choose
Not every query is worth fighting for an Alice AI answer. Below is our editorial selection framework. It is based on Yandex help articles, but the specific breakdown is our recommendation, not a search engine rule.
| Query type | Example for a service company | What page is needed | Priority for GEO |
|---|---|---|---|
| A “how / what / why” question about your topic | “how to choose a video surveillance system for a warehouse” | An expert article with a short answer at the top | High: the Yandex blog gives these questions as an example of detailed Alice answers with source links |
| Comparison and choice | "how X differs from Y," "what types there are" | Comparison page with a criteria table | High: Alice in reasoning mode can build comparison tables |
| Pricing and timelines | "how much does implementation cost…" | A page with price ranges, pricing factors, and examples | Medium: it’s important to show only verifiable numbers |
| Regional commercial intent | "installation … in Kazan" | Service page + a listing in Yandex Business | Medium: maps and the business listing matter more here |
| Brand-focused | "[company name] reviews" | About the company page, reviews, company details | Defensive: monitor what external platforms say about you |
Where to start: in Webmaster, open "Search Query Monitoring" and select several queries where the site is already showing up, but not in the top positions—we recommend 10–20. The EPOS help section in the relevance guide recommends starting the analysis with exactly these pages; the logic is simple: this is the shortest path to higher rankings and, therefore, to a chance of appearing in answers.
How to structure a page so it’s easy to reference
Yandex does not publish formatting requirements for Alice AI beyond the general rule: the page must contain enough high-quality text information, and the chance of appearing in a quick answer is higher, according to the quick answers help, if the information is "carefully structured, high-quality, and clearly written." Practical techniques that follow from this:
- Answer in the first paragraph. State the main point in 2–4 sentences right under the heading, as in the "Short answer" section of this article.
- Question-style headings. Write H2 and H3 headings the way a customer would ask the question in search.
- Tables for comparisons. Put criteria, options, pros, and cons in a table, not in plain text.
- Self-contained definitions. One or two sentences that make sense without the rest of the text.
- Make the author and company visible. Who wrote it, what their specialty is, and how to contact the company—these are listed directly in the expertise recommendations.
- Dates and sources. Include the update date and links to primary sources for numbers and facts.
- Schema.org structured data. In the same help article, Yandex recommends using it as one of the ways to "send Search as much information as possible about the site and business"—along with registering in Yandex Business, the Yandex Metrica counter, and Yandex Products.
Important: these are techniques for making extraction easier, not a guarantee of being mentioned. If a page is not among the strongest for the query, formatting alone will not lift it.
How to measure: Share of Voice in Yandex Webmaster
Share of Voice (SoV) in Yandex Webmaster is the share of queries for which your site was mentioned in Alice AI answers, out of all queries with Alice AI answers among those for which the site appears in Search. The metric is available in the "Site Visibility in Alice AI" report; data is available for the last 3 months and is updated once a week.
What else the report shows, according to the Webmaster help:
- the range of mention frequency among sites with similar queries—for example, top 3, top 10, or top 20, if the site is mentioned often enough;
- examples of sites in the same topic that are often mentioned in answers—competitors and media outlets you could partner with;
- examples of queries and pages where your site is mentioned or not mentioned, with the ability to view the actual Alice AI answer.
There are no clicks or impressions in the report. Yandex explains this by saying the tool measures site presence, and SoV is less distorted by seasonal demand swings.
A reproducible measurement process we recommend:
- Confirm site ownership in Yandex Webmaster and open the "Site Visibility in Alice AI" report.
- Once a week, after the data updates, record SoV and the range in a table with the date.
- Export the list of queries mentioning the site and save it—this makes it clear which pages are starting or stopping being mentioned.
- For 5–10 important queries with no mentions, open the Alice AI answer and compare your page with the mentioned sources: completeness, specificity, author, freshness.
- After changing a page, note the edit date and track SoV dynamics over several weeks, not one day: answers are rebuilt from scratch, and the source mix fluctuates.
If the report says "Not enough data yet," according to the help, that means the site has few queries in search results, low rankings, little text on its pages, or Alice AI rarely answers your queries. In that case, start with regular SEO.
How to prevent Alice from using your site’s content
Sometimes the question is the opposite: a company does not want its content paraphrased. According to Yandex’s robot description, directives for the YandexAdditional and YandexAdditionalBot agents in robots.txt are used to restrict how page content appears in quick answers with YandexGPT and in Search answers with Alice. This robot does not make indexing requests.
Example from the quick answers help:
User-agent: YandexAdditionalBot
Disallow: /cats/mycat.html
According to the same help, the change takes effect within 2–14 days as search data updates, and the restriction does not affect indexing by the regular search robot. The downside is obvious: by blocking pages from YandexAdditional, you are removing them from the set of possible Alice AI sources yourself. For GEO promotion, it’s useful to check robots.txt and make sure this restriction is not there by mistake.
Mistakes that do not lead to results
- Generating hundreds of articles with a neural network without your own expertise. Yandex explicitly says that rewriting other people’s content without new value is ineffective and does not produce long-term results.
- Optimizing a page "for the neural network" without working on rankings. Statistics and Alice AI answers are based on pages that are already ranking high in Search.
- Judging by one query. Answers are rebuilt from scratch, sources change—look at the weekly SoV trend across the full set of queries.
- Hiding the company. Lack of company details, address, authors, and portfolio conflicts with expertise recommendations.
- Buying a "guaranteed spot in AI answers." Yandex itself does not provide a way to control inclusion; any promise of a guarantee is a red flag.
- Block YandexAdditional and forget about it. Such a robots.txt restriction excludes pages from Alice AI answers.

How the airassvet.ru team helps with expert content for Alice AI answers
For most companies, the main GEO limitation is not technical, but the amount of verified expert content: specialists have the knowledge, but it does not turn into pages. This is where the airassvet.ru team can: airassvet.ru can:
- audit the content preparation process: which customer questions remain unanswered on the site, where company knowledge is stored, and who verifies it;
- build a corporate knowledge base (RAG) from your internal procedures, managers’ answers, and project materials so article drafts rely on the company’s own experience rather than rewrites of other people’s texts;
- set up generative production: AI prepares drafts of pages and answers to common questions, and an expert publishes them after review.
Search rankings and mentions in Alice AI answers are not guaranteed — Yandex determines them. The first step is to choose one process, for example preparing articles based on customer questions, document how it works now, what data and limitations it has, and what criterion will define success. If you already have such a process, discuss the task.
Conclusion
You can appear in Alice AI answers only through regular Search: according to Yandex help, the neural network relies on relevant, high-quality pages with strong rankings, and GEO does not add fundamentally new requirements. A workable plan for business is to choose queries where the site is already visible, provide direct and expert answers on the pages, show the author and company according to EPOS principles, keep YandexAdditional open, and track Share of Voice weekly in Webmaster. No one can guarantee results, but measurable progress appears only for those who work systematically.
